Islamabad, June 20: Former Pakistan Prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has been denied permission to attend or conduct any political meetings at Kot Lakhpat jail, local media said on Thursday.
Nawaz is imprisoned in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail after an accountability court handed him a seven-year jail term in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference. Thursday has been allotted to the former prime minister as a meeting day with party leaders and family members in the prison.
According to Geo TV, jail authorities cancelled Nawaz's meetings on government orders. He is, however, expected to be only allowed to meet family members.
Sources further said PML-N leaders were expected to meet Nawaz and brief him regarding the All Parties' Conference (APC).
Last month, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazl had announced that he would call the APC after Eid-ul-Fitr.
