Beijing, June 12: China has appointed Sun Weidong as its Ambassador to India. Sun succeeds Luo Zhaohui, who has been posted as the country's vice foreign minister.

A former Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun currently heads policy planning at China's foreign ministry. India's envoy to China, Vikram Misri, congratulated Sun and wished him the best.
"Congratulations to His Excellency Sun Weidong, who has been appointed as the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to India - had the opportunity to welcome him home recently in Beijing and wish him all the best for his important mission," said Misri in a tweet.

Earlier this week, Misri met Luo after he assumed office and the two sides used the opportunity to "compare notes" on the upcoming engagements in bilateral relations. (UNI)
