India has offered to contribute for the conservation of Maldives' unique Friday Mosque, a place of worship made of coral stones, the Prime Minister has announced.
Narendra Modi made this offer while addressing the Maldives Parliament, The People's Majlis, on Saturday and noted that the relations between the two countries were older than history.
He said India will contribute to the conservation of Friday Mosque, which is also known as Hukuru Miskiy.
'There is no such mosque anywhere in the world as this historical mosque is made up of coral,' Modi pointed out.
He said he was happy that the Maldives was working towards sustainable development and has become a part of the International Solar Alliance.
