Kathmandu, June 7: At least two people were killed and 75 others wounded when a storm hit the Kailali and Kanchanpur districts in southwest Nepal late on Thursday night.
Prem Kumar Rai, a secretary at the Home Affairs Ministry, told that the search and rescue operations are underway, adding that the number of those affected by the disaster might increase.
The windstorm has left a trail of destruction along its way with thatched houses feeling the brunt of the disaster. However, a detailed report on the extent of damages caused by the storm is yet to be ascertained, Kathmandu Post said in a report.
Electricity poles have also been uprooted in the storm-hit areas which have caused disruption of electricity in various parts of the district, while uprooted trees have obstructed vehicle movement at various road sections. (UNI)
