Ten Indians, including six Keralites, were among the 17 killed in a bus accident in Dubai on Thursday evening. Several people were also seriously injured in the fatal incident.
Four of the deceased Malayalis have been identified. They are Thiruvananthapuram native Deepak Kumar, Jamaluddin, Vasudev and Thilakan. People from other countries were also among the victims, it was reported.
Most of the passengers were returning to Dubai after the Eid holidays in Oman, the report said.
There were 31 passengers on the Dubai-bound tourist bus from Oman. After the driver lost control of the bus it rammed the traffic signal near the Rashidiya metro station on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in Dubai in the evening.
According to the police, the bus was completely destroyed in the accident. Police informed that the people who were injured have been admitted at Rashid hospital. The bodies were shifted to mortuary.
