Dhaka, June 1: Speakers at a discussion here have appealed to the governments in Bangladesh and India to simplify the visa process, especially for the journalists.
"India and Bangladesh are dependent on each other. Visa process of the two countries should be simplified further. It is especially very important for journalists," they said at the discussion organised by an organisation of Bangladeshi journalists working for the Indian media-- Indian Media Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB) at National Press Club on Friday.
They stressed on strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries in the interest of development and progress.
"Development of the two countries should be ensured through mutual cooperation," they added while addressing the discussion on the occasion of Iftar party hosted by IMCAB.
Highlighting the important role played by India during Bangladesh’s Liberation War, the speakers underscored the need for better mutual cooperation and appealed to the two countries to achieve new heights of cooperation.
At the beginning of the programme, the meeting greeted the newly-formed Modi Government in India. The programme was chaired by IMCAB president Basudev Dhar, IMCAB general secretary Rafiqul Islam Sabuj, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Molla Jalal, BFUJ secretary general Shaban Mahmud and others.
