New Delhi, May 31: In a display of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity in various parts of the world, the UAE government on Thursday showed an "extraordinary gesture" and lit up its iconic ADNOC building in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of swearing in ceremony of Modi.
"An extraordinary gesture! The UAE government lit up the iconic ADNOC building in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony of PM Narendra Modi and Council of Ministers," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister for the second time at a grand and star-studded ceremony in the sprawling forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Thursday evening.
Modi became the first non-Congress Prime Minister to have won a second consecutive term in office after the BJP won a massive mandate by bagging 303 seats on its own in the just-concluded elections to the 17th Lok Sabha.
The glittering ceremony was witnessed by a galaxy of leaders, diplomats, industrialists and prominent personalities from various fields. BIMSTEC leaders and nation heads witnessed the ceremony as they were specially invited as part of the Modi government’s "Neighbourhood First" initiative.
