One school girl killed, several injured in Japan mass stabbing

Kawasaki (Japan), May 28: One elementary school girl was killed while 15 others and two adults were injured after an elderly man attacked them with knives while they were waiting for their school bus on Tuesday morning here.

The 50-year-old suspect stabbed himself in the neck afterwards. "He died on the way to the hospital," Japan Today quoted the police.

The police has retrieved two knives and is still in the process of identification of the suspect. The schoolgirl and a man in his early 30s were both declared dead at the hospital. Two other school girls and an elderly woman have sustained some serious injuries.

The school has arranged for a press conference at 1800 hrs (local time) after conveying an emergency of the student's parents.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, who was on a four day visit to meet the new Japanese Emperor Naruhito condoled the victims of the unfortunate incident. "All Americans stand with the people of Japan and grieve for the victims and for their families." UNI
