24 killed in Afghan floods


Kabul, May 25 (UNI) At least 24 people were killed and 221 houses destroyed across Afghanistan in heavy floods in May, Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) said on Saturday.

"In areas like Kabul, Parwan, Ghour, Herat, Bamyan and Ghazni provinces, the floods from May 3, 2019 till now- have killed 24 people, injured 11 and destroyed around 221 houses," the statement from the authority said.

Also, some 500 people, who found themselves in the flood-affected Timori area of Bamyan province, were rescued, the statement added.
