Pakistan: Militants storm five star hotel in Gwadar

Islamabad, May 11 : A group of Armed militants stormed five star hotel Pearl Continental (PC) in Gwadar port city located in Balochistan province of Pakistan, according to a Station House Officer (SHO) Aslam Bangulzai.

"Firing began at around 1650 hrs, we got reports that there are three to four armed men in PC Hotel," the SHO said, adding that "the firing is ongoing but there are no reports of any casualties yet." At least 70 people are in the hotel, including 40 Chinese citizens. The police official further said that "there were no foreigners at the hotel right now."

SHO Bangulzai said that additional police force, ATF (Anti-terrorism force) and army were all present at the hotel to handle the situation.Frontier Corps personnel have cordoned off the hotel and no one is allowed to go near the area. As per latest information Balochistan Information Minister Zahoor Balidi has confirmed that all the people from the hotel have been evacuated. The minister added that the exchange of fire between security forces and attackers were still underway.
