MOSCOW, May 12 : At least 24 militants of the Taliban Islamist movement were killed by recent airstrikes in the Afghan provinces of Paktika, Ghazni and Herat, local media reported on Sunday.
At least 20 militants were killed in the districts of Zurmat and Bermal of the Paktika province, two more in the Andar district of the Ghazni province and two others in the Farsi district of the Herat province, the Khaama Press news agency reported, citing its military sources. The Taliban militants have not commented on the reports about the airstrikes yet.
Afghanistan is suffering from an unstable political, social and security situation due to the activity of the Taliban movement and the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia). The national security forces, supported by the international coalition, are involved in anti-terrorist operations across the country.
