Beijing, May 9 : China on Thursday reiterated its demand on the United States to withdraw its arrest warrant against Huawei's chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou and the request for her extradition from Canada.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks at a news briefing when asked to comment on the case. Geng said China's position on the issue is clear and firm, urging the Canadian side to immediately release Meng and let her return to China safely.
The United States and Canada abused their bilateral extradition treaty and arbitrarily used compulsory measures against a Chinese citizen, seriously violating her legitimate rights and interests, he said.Geng said this is a "serious political event." (XINHUA)
