Lahore, Apr 2 : A Czech model, who was imprisoned in heroin smuggling case in Pakistan, has challenged her sentence in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.
Tereza Hluskova (22) was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison last month. The trial court had also imposed a fine of Rs 1,13,000 ($800) on her.
The Czech model was arrested in possession of 19 lbs (8.5kg) of heroin in January 2018 at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. She was heading to Ireland via Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the court said.
In her appeal filed before the Lahore High Court through her lawyer, Hluskova has requested that the ruling of the sessions court be set aside as it negated the true facts of the case, Geo news reported.
Hluskova has claimed that she came to Pakistan to work as a model and that someone put narcotics into her luggage.
Two other men were also arrested and were due to face drug trafficking charges after police went through the model's phone. (UNI)
