Islamabad, Mar 31 : Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood on Sunday said senior diplomat Sohail Mahmood will replace Tehmina Janjua as foreign secretary.
Mahmood is currently serving as Pakistan's High Commissioner to India.
Speaking to the media at Multan, the foreign minister applauded Janjua for handling difficult situations in an excellent manner.
Janjua was the first woman to become Pakistan’s foreign secretary.
Mahmood previously served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkey. Before that, he served as the ambassador to Thailand and permanent representative to the UNESCP Bangkok for four years till 2013.
Responding to questions regarding political situation, the minister Shah urged the opposition parties support the government in resolving issues facing the country, said a report in The News International.
He said leaders of the political parties play positive role in security matters of the country, putting aside their differences.
The Foreign Minister said despite different kinds of challenges, the government is trying to bring the country on the way of development.
