In a medical miracle a Bangladeshi woman with two wombs has delivered twins almost a month after delivering her first baby. The twins arrived exactly 26 days after a baby boy had been delivered at the Khulna Medical College Hospital. This is a very rare incident in medical history.
The woman Arifa Sultana Iti who hails from Shyamalagacchi village, Sharsha in Jessore was taken to hospital on March 22 after she complained of being unwell and in pain. There she underwent a caesarean operation and delivered a boy and a girl. Earlier on February 25, she had given birth to a premature baby.
The doctor who attended on Iti said that through a sonography she had learnt that the woman has 2 uteruses. The first baby was from one womb and the twins from another womb. The doctor remarked that it was a rare incident and she had never heard of this before. The mother and children are doing well.
