Kabul, Mar 3: Afghan forces have intensified military operations and killed 17 militants in the war-battered country on Sunday, officials said.
The crackdowns have increased in the wake of Taliban deadly attack on an army base in Shorab area in the Helmand province on Friday.
The brazen offensive, which started at 0200 hrs local time on Friday and ended at 1600 hrs on Saturday, left some 50 dead and more than 40 others injured, according to local media reports.
Two Taliban senior commanders namely Mawlawi Jalal and Mullah Jandullah were also among those killed in the raids. (UNI)
