Mogadishu, Mar 1 : Atleast 15 people were killed and 30 others injured when a car laden with explosives detonated here in the Somalia's capital, local media reported on Thursday.
The explosion had hit the city's busiest street Maka Al Mukarama, full of hotels, shops and restaurants. Mareeg news while quoting a Police officer Hussein Mohamed said that buildings and a dozen of cars were burning in the area. Moreover, two other explosions were also reported in Mogadishu.
Al Shabaab militant group, affiliated with Al Qaeda terror organization, has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
The group has been behind many high-profile attacks conducted across Somalia over the past years and they are trying to topple the Somalia government and establish its own rule based on strict interpretation of Islamic law. (UNI)
