Pak to release Indian Pilot on Friday, says Imran Khan

Islamabad, Feb 28 : Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Thursday announced that the Indian fighter pilot, in the custody of Pakistan army, would be freed on Friday as a “peace gesture.”

Making this announcement during a joint session of Pakistan Parliament which was specially convened to discuss Indo-Pak situation, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that his country has offered to release the Indian pilot as a “peace gesture.’’

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was taken into custody on Wednesday by Pakistani Army after his MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft crashed inside Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) territory after an aerial confrontation with a Pak F-16 jet. His video in custody was also released by Pak authorities yesterday. India said yesterday that in driving intruding Pak jets out, IAF lost a MiG 21 Bison fighter and a pilot was 'missing in action.'
