Rio de Janeiro, Feb 8 : Ten people were killed and three injured when a major fire broke out at Ninho de Urubu, the training ground of Flamengo football club on Friday.
The fire engulfed a dormitory at the training centre of one of Brazil's biggest football clubs.
The fire began at 5.10 hrs local time and was extinguished by 7.30 hrs local time, BBC reported. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is not known yet and neither have any of the victims been identified.
However, all ten victims are said to be young athletes who aged between 14 to 17 and occupied the dormitory for the practice.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, firefighters said. Flamengo is one of Brazil's biggest and best-known clubs internationally. (UNI)
