Sydney, Feb 5: Two bodies were found on Tuesday when the horrible flood took place on Sunday in Australian city of Townsville in the northern Queensland city.
At least 19 people found trapped in floodwaters have been rescued since Sunday and Thousands of houses have been flooded in the water, BBC reports.
According to officials, the reason of the flood is said to be the opening of gates of the city's main dam after it swelled to double its capacity, releasing up to 1,900 cubic metres of water per second and hence causing the flood to occur.
Volunteer rescuers and the army have rescued more than 1,100 people and moved them to the higher ground from the low lying areas. (UNI)
