Moscow, Jan 27 : US President Donald Trump decided to end a 35-day partial US government shutdown because many Democrats are starting agree with him on the need for a wall on the US-Mexico border, acting White House chief of staff Mick Muvlaney said on Sunday.
Trump on Friday signed a temporary three-week budget to end the shutdown without getting the $5.7 billion he had demanded from the Congress for a wall along the southern border."Why he did what he did was because many democrats have come to us, many of them privately, many of them spoke out publicly that they are actually starting to agree with him on a necessity for a barrier on the southern border. And they had come to us and said: 'We agree with you, you are winning the battle on the importance of a barrier on the southern border'," Mulvaney told the Fox News TV channel.
The shutdown left some 800,000 federal workers furloughed or working without pay. (UNI-SPUTNIK)
