Ankara, Jan 27 : The tornado lashed Turkey's Mediterranean province of Antalya on Saturday, left 12 people injured and two planes and a police helicopter severly damaged.
Antalya Governor Munir Karaloglu told local TV channel NTV that two buses and a minibus overturned and two sets of airstairs were toppled over due to high winds. The affected air traffic is currently back to normal.
The powerful storm also led to the collapse of Karatepe Stadium in Kumluca district of Antalya.
According to Turkish Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum, the storm and tornado started on Wednesday night have caused 229 buildings major damaged, two buildings were completely destroyed.
At least two people died and 11 more people injured after the tornado and strong storm struck the province.
In November 2017, at least 38 people were injured in a tornado disaster in southern Antalya province. (UNI-Xinhua)
