Beijing, Jan 8: At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with his wife Ri Sol-ju is on a three day visit to China, a spokesperson of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee here said on Tuesday.
Being his fourth visit to China in a year, Kim’s arrival on Tuesday also coincides with his birthday, which came as Pyongyang expressed increasing frustration at the US approach on denuclearization talks, the Washington Post reported.
In recent weeks, Pyongyang has threatened to resume building up its nuclear forces if the US doesn’t ease sanctions—a step Washington has refused to take in the absence of concrete steps by North Korea to relinquish its arsenal. North Korea insists it has made significant concessions to improve relations, including dismantling some nuclear facilities, and says the US needs to make the next move. (UNI-Xinhua)
