World’s largest wooden mosaic unveiled in Qatar

Doha, Dec 19: Before a large audience of citizens and residents, the world's largest mosaic of colorful pieces of wood, entitled "Promise 2022", was inaugurated on Thursday in the pavilion of the Police College in Darb Al Saai here.

The Mosaic inauguration ceremony was attended by Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi, and Director General of Public Security Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi. The Mosaic symbolizes the 2022 football World Cup in Qatar, Qatar News Agency said in a report.

According to Guinness Book of World Records’ official, 10,371 people participated in painting and installing 33,600 colored pieces of wood, to break the world record, of 3,680 participants, which was recorded in Australia.

Last year, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Police College, registered a world record with the participation of citizens and residents in the coloring of the largest painting in the world, a painting bearing the image of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

13,824 people participated in the painting, surpassing the world record recorded in the United States of America, where the number of participants in the making of the paining is 2,643 participants. Qatar broke that record with more than 11,000 participants. (UNI)
