Abu Dhabi, Dec 4: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has arrived here for attending and co-chairing the crucial 12th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting.
"EAM Sushma Swaraj arrives in the fascinating city of Abu Dhabi. EAM would be co-chairing the 12th session of India-UAE JCM, co-inaugurating the Gandhi-Zayed Museum & interacting with the Indian Community," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
During her stay, Ms Swaraj is also likely to address the Indian community. "India and the UAE enjoy strong bonds of friendship, which are founded on millennia-old cultural, religious and economic interaction between the two regions. In the recent past, with the exchange of visits at the highest-level, the relationship has been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," an MEA release said here on November 30.
The statement further said with nearly US$ 50 billion bilateral trade, the two countries are one of the largest trade partners for each other and have made robust investments bilaterally.
The UAE is the sixth-largest source of India's oil imports and hosts a 3.3 million-strong Indian community. During her visit to the UAE, Ms Swaraj would be calling on the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, sources said.
Along with the Foreign Minister of the UAE, External Affairs Minister would be inaugurating a Gandhi-Zayed Digital Museum in Abu Dhabi to mark the celebrations of 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth and centenary celebrations of the birth of Shaikh Zayed, founder of the modern UAE. (UNI)
