Beijing/New Delhi, Dec 4: Amid latent one-upmanship, China has welcomed the "positive interaction" between Pakistan and India on the Kartarpur Corridor and said Beijing sincerely hopes that two neighbours should strengthen communication and dialogue.
"We have noted relevant reports and are pleased with this positive interaction between Pakistan and India," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a regular Press Conference in Beijing on Monday.
"These two countries are important nations in South Asia, and a steady relationship between them is significant to peace and development of this region and the world beyond. We sincerely wish that they could strengthen communication and dialogue, properly handle differences, improve bilateral ties, and jointly maintain regional peace and stability," he said.
The spokesman was asked to comment on both the countries approving the corridor to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and also his Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and two Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri and Punjab Congress leader Navjot Sidhu had attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Kartarpur corridor along the Pakistani-Indian border on November 28.
