Leftist Obrador to take oath as Mexican President on Saturday

Mexico, Dec 1 : Leftist leader Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador Mexico will take oath as the new president on Saturday.

Popularly known as AMLO, Mr Obrador will be replacing outgoing Enrique Pena Nieto. He won the June 2018 election ending decades of centrist and right-wing rule, Sputnik reported.

The oath ceremony will be held in the lower house of Mexican Parliament at 9 am local time (15:00 GMT).

A reception of foreign guests at the National Palace in Mexico City will follow the reception.

US President Donald Trump is sending his daughter and adviser Ivanka, vice-president Mike Pence and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Russia will be represented by lower house deputy leader Olga Epifanova. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is coming despite a recent outcry on Mexican social media.(UNI)
