Kabul, Nov 29 : As many as 60 houses were destroyed when an earthquake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, hit northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan overnight, an official said on Thursday.
Nine people, including three women, were injured in the incident. The injured have been evacuated to Pul-i-Khumri Civil Hospital, Pajhwok Afghan News quoted Public Health Department Director Muhibullah Habib as saying.
The three women were among the injured who had been discharged after treatment. Abdul Naseer Kahzad, head of the Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said there was no information regarding losses in the districts and far-flung areas of Baghlan but a survey had been kicked off in Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, to collect facts and figures about the losses.
He assured all assistance to the affected families. (UNI)
