Russia to show solidarity with Afghanistan at Geneva conference

Agency News

Geneva, Nov 27: Russia will attend this week’s Geneva Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan to demonstrate its solidarity with the Central Asian nation and efforts it made to end decades of war, Russia's presidential envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said.

"Russia will take part to demonstrate its solidarity, alongside the international community, with the long-suffering people of Afghanistan, and we will demonstrate solidarity on this stage while also emphasizing the efforts made by Russia to put an end to the civil war," he said.

The UN-hosted conference on November 27-28 will seek to gauge the progress of reforms implemented since the last conference in Brussels in 2016 while setting a forward-looking agenda for peace, stability and sustainable development. (UNI- Sputnik)
