New Delhi, Nov 27: India and Russia agreed on an early operationalisation of the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and improvement of Inland Waterways in India through Russian collaboration and setting up of special techno-parks for Russian investments.
INSTC is one of corridors that Delhi is working on as part of connectivity initiatives parallel to China's One Belt One Road strategy.
It is a multi-modal route for moving freight between India, Iran, Central Asia, Russia and Europe.
Ahead of the Dialogue, Ambassador D B Venkatesh Varma visited Astrakhan, which is an important node in the INSTC project.
He discussed with the Acting Governor, Sergey Morozov, opportunities for economic cooperation in the Astrakhan region in the fields of transportation, energy, agricultural production and bilateral cooperation.
