Florida, Oct 12: The death toll from Hurricane Michael rose to six after a new death was reported in North Carolina.
The extent of Hurricane Michael's widespread devastation in Florida became clearer on Thursday as the storm continued to wreak havoc across the Southeast, knocking down trees and power poles, stranding motorists, and spawning tornadoes and flash flood emergencies.
Following Thursday's damage, now a tropical storm with winds of 50mph, the hurricane Michael is likely to strengthen as it passes into Virginia while advancing into the western Atlantic Ocean overnight, wreaking havoc by detrimental winds and life-threatening flash flooding over parts of North Carolina and Virginia, a report in the CNN stated.
In Florida, four people were killed in Gadsden County as a result of the hurricane, according to Lt Anglie Hightower, spokesperson for Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.In the wake of the hurricane, six people have died so far, with the authorities fearing that the toll could increase. (UNI)
