Dhaka, Oct 10: Severe Cyclonic Storm Titli will bring dangerous weather to parts of Bangladesh and eastern India in the coming days.
Locations at risk for impacts include Dhaka, Khulna and Chittagong in Bangladesh; and Visakhapatnam, Brahmapur, Puri, Kharagpur and Kolkata in India, the weather office has said. Action should be taken now to prepare for potential impacts or evacuation orders from the impending tropical threat.
Rain from the storm will reach the coast of Bangladesh, and Odisha and West Bengal in India. Conditions will worsen from Wednesday into Thursday as the potent tropical cyclone unleashes torrential rainfall and increasing winds on far northeast Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Flash flooding will be the most widespread concern; however, dangerous lightning and damaging winds are expected.
Bangladesh and West Bengal in India will dodge the strongest winds through Thursday, but heavy rainfall will elevate the risk for flooding, mudslides and travel disruptions.
The storm will turn north and then northeast from Friday into this weekend taking it across Odisha, West Bengal and Bangladesh with additional downpours. (UNI)
