Dhaka, Oct 7: Bangladesh opposition leader and former prime minister Khaleda Zia has been admitted to a hospital in Dhaka.
Ms Khaleda (73) was rushed to a top medical university hospital in Dhaka on Saturday from the prison where she was serving her sentence related to corruption case, according to a report in The News International. "She has been admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital," said director of the hospital, Brigadier General Abdullah al-Harun.
Her transfer to the hospital came just days after the country's high court ordered immediate treatment for Zia, following her lawyers’ argument that the government was putting her health at risk by refusing to provide specialised care. Her lawyer Zainal Abedin said that Zia would be able to select her own doctors from outside the state-run hospital. (UNI)
