Islamabad, Sept 30: After a scathing attack by Union External Affairs Minister, Mrs Sushma Swaraj on Pakistan for harbouring terrorists like Osama bin laden and Hafiz Saeed on its soil, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi rebutted by blaming India for breakdown in talks and sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan.

Addressing the 73rd United Nations General Assembly, Mr Qureshi said, “It was a great chance for India and Pakistan to meet on the sidelines of UNGA but India again under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership wasted this opportunity for the third time on flimsy grounds.”

“India preferred politics over peace”, he added. He mentioned that unresolved Kashmir dispute is the biggest hurdle in the peace process and is a blot on the conscience of humanity. "Peace can never be established in South Asia unless the issue of Kashmir is resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions," said Qureshi.

While mentioning Kulbhushan Jadhav, Mr Qureshi also accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan's territory. It may be noted that India had presented a strong case in International Court of Justice in May 2017 in which ICJ stayed the death sentence of Jadhav which was awarded to him by the Field General Court Martial in April 2017.

Earlier Mrs Sushma Swaraj in her 40 minute address at the UNGA had accused Pakistan of its duplicity and had said that Pakistan has a habit to throw dust of deceit and deception against India in order to provide some thin cover for its own guilt. (UNI)
