Kabul, Sep 15: At least five people were killed after an Afghan armed forces helicopter crashed in western Farah province.
The incident took place late on Friday evening while the helicopter was transporting security personnel, local media reports said. Confirming the incident, Provincial governor’s spokesman Nasir Mehri said the helicopter has crashed due technical issues.
Five people, including security personnel and the pilot of the helicopter, lost their lives in the incident, Mehri added. The incident was also confirmed by Ministry of Defense but it added that an investigation is underway regarding the cause of the crash.
Security situation in western Farah province has started to deteriorate during the recent months as the anti-government armed militants are attempting to expand their foothold in some key western provinces. (UNI)
