Pakistan’s cricketer-turned politician and opposition leader, Imran Khan, has proposed marriage to mother of 5 and faith healer, Bushra Maneka believed to be in her 40s. She has asked for time to make a final decision after consulting her family, including her children.
Confirming his proposal Khan’s spokesman in a statement denied reports that he had secretly wed her. “It is indeed sad to see this extremely private and sensitive matter be made the subject of erroneous story leading to all manner of public conjecture” the statement said.
“If and when the proposal is accepted by Ms. Maneka for the marriage Mr. Khan will announce it publicly in the proper manner. Till then we request the media to give the two families, especially the children, their privacy”, the statement said.
Maneka was married to a senior customs official, Khawar Farid Maneka, who is in Islamabad.
Imran Khan divorced his former wife and BBC presenter Reham Khan in October last year.
The News on Saturday had reported that Imran Khan had tied the knot on New Year’s Day and went straight from there to appear before the anti-terrorism court in Islamabad that granted him bail.
