Shimla, Oct 6: Acting Chief Justice of Karnataka High court Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy took oath of new Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High court here on Sunday.
The Governor of Himachal Pradesh Mr Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath to new Chief justice at Rajbhavan today in presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and judges of Himachal Pradesh High court Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur and Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia.
After the oath, Chief Minister Jai Ram greeted justice justice Swamy for taking over as new chief justice.
With elevation of former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh V Ramasubramanian as Supreme Court judge on August 28, the apex court collegium had recommended name of Justice L Narayana Swamy as new Chief Justice of Himachal Pradsesh.
Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy was born on July 1, 1959, and enrolled as an advocate in 1987 in Karnataka High Court.
He became Additional Judge of Karnataka High court on July 4, 2007, subsequently as permanent Judge on April 17, 2009. He also served as Acting Chief Justice of Karnataka from January 17, 2019, to May 9, 2019.(UNI)
