Kangra MC launches water conservation, tree plantation drive

Kangra, Jul 20 : Kangra Municipal Council on Saturday launched a tree plantation drive and an awareness campaign for conservation of water.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Kangra Jatin Lal inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a sapling in the Municipal council Park. He was accompanied by the Municipal council president Ashok Sharma and Executive officer Kanchan Bala besides other local residents at the time of launch of the program. Members of the MC besides members of different Mehala mandals and other institutions also joined this plantation drive today.

On this occasion, Mr Lal asked the people to take all steps to conserve the water and protect the environment by planting trees. He said there was sever water crisis in Chennai recently and the state Capital Shimla also suffered a jolt of water crisis few days back so keeping in view such a crisis people must come forward to preserve water at all levels.

The forest department provided MC with the saplings. The program to create awareness among people regarding water conservation and tree plantation drive will continue for coming weeks, said Kanchan Bala
