Shimla, Jun 30 : As the talks of dissolving the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) is gaining momentum, another Congress Party legislator Harshwardhan Chauhan on Sunday tendered his resignation from the post of HPCC General Secretary.
Five times sitting MLA from Shilai in Sirmaur district -- Harshwardhan Chauhan took the moral responsibility of drubbing of Congress party in recent general elections.
''I feel it is imperative for all of us to submit our resignation so as to enable the party leader to undertake complete revamp and overhaul the party'' Mr Chauhan said .
''In view of the defeat, we all need to strengthen your hands so that we start building the party brick by brick under your able leadership.'' he said.A Party Office bearer told UNI that Manmohan Katoch, another Gen Secretary of HPCC from Indora of Kangra district has submitted resignation yesterday. Mr Katoch was earlier elected as Youth Congress president of the state.
AICC which have already dissolved the state unit of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Karnataka is considering similar proposal to dissolve HPCC and other state units which were not able to perform well in the Lok Sabha elections. The proposal of dissolving the committee is already pending before the All India Congress Committee, party office confirmed.HPCC President Kuldeep Singh Rathore recommended to dissolve state unit however AICC has not taken any action so far.(UNI)
