Shimla, Mar 31: Chairman & Managing Director SJVN Limited Nand Lal Sharma has asserted that SJVN is very keen in development of hydro power potential and expressed exuberance in the economic growth of Nepal.
Mr Sharma who was addressing ‘Nepal Investment Summit' in Kathmandu on Saturday, said, "There is a great opportunity of multiplying the per capita income of Nepal, even if half of the hydro power potential of the country is harnessed."
He also emphasised that the hydro power has to be developed in an integrated river basin development way so as to give boost to infrastructural development.
He said that the infrastructural development would ensure in overall socio-economic development of the country as well as timely completion of hydro projects
While sharing his experiences about investment in Nepal, the CMD informed that SJVN will be investing around NPR 11,000 crores (INR 7,000 crores) in 900 MW Arun three hydro electric project which is allocated to SJVN in 2008 through international competitive bidding.
He further said that SJVN has invested around NPR 800 crores till now and construction activities of this project will result in employment to around 3,500 individuals.
The Nepal Investment Summit aims at generating interest in the international community and to create a positive momentum among potential foreign investors.
This Summit is a major investment promotion initiative of the Government of Nepal, in which SJVN is also actively participating. (UNI)
