Hamirpur, Mar 28 : Senior BJP leader and HP chief minister, Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday gave a clarion call to the people especially women to reach the polling stations in large numbers and vote for the party candidates to once again make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India.
Claiming that a pro-BJP wave was discernible in the state , Mr Thakur said each vote in favour of the BJP would be for safeguarding the nation and the India polity.
Addressing a largely attended meeting of the 'Mahila' wing of the party here on Thursday, he expressed optimism that with support of the women folk, the party would be able to win all the seats in the state with a thumping majority.
He claimed that women had always played a major role in elections and he was sure that this time too they would help BJP to form its government at the Centre.
The 'meet' was also attended by former chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal, HP state BJP Mahila morcha chief, Indu Goswami and Anurag Thakur, MP and party candidate for the Hamirpur seat.
He warned the women folk that if they voted for the Congress party in large numbers, the nation would be doomed as the coming elections were very vital for the Indian polity.
Later while talking to reporters, he said the victory of Anurag was sure since Congress had not yet announced its candidate and party was still in search of a suitable contestant as no one was ready to contest from Hamirpur seat.
Talking about the re-entry of Pandit Sukh Ram in the Congress party, he said it would not affect the party's chances from Mandi seat as he( Sukh Ram) had made the mockery of him and his family. He said the BJP would win Mandi seat with a thumping majority.
Replying to a question, he said sitting Shimla MP, Virendra Kashyap had sought some time from the party to start campaign in favour of Suresh Kashyap, the official party nominee for the seat. (UNI)
