Two burnt alive in Nalagarh road mishap

Solan, Mar 6: Two persons were burnt to death when an oil tanker suddenly caught fire after hitting an electric post near Jagatkhana on Nalagarh-Ropar road.

Nalagarh Deputy Superintendent of Police Chaman Bhatia said on Wednesday that preliminary investigation revealed that the oil tanker was on its way from Bhatinda to Nalagarh. As soon as the vehicle reached near Jagatakhana Bridge near Saini Majra village, one of its front tyres suddenly bursted and it dashed against an electric pole at around 0030 hrs.

The investigations also revealed that shortly after the crash, the tanker turned turtle and caught fire. The villagers after hearing the explosion assembled on the spot and intimated the local police which further requisitioned fire tender from Nalagarh to extinguish the fire.

Fire tenders took two hours to control the blaze. However, by then the driver and the cleaner of the tanker were burnt alive. Later, the police recovered the charred bodies.
