New Delhi, Jan 10: The Congress party on Thursday appointed Kuldeep Singh Rathore as its Himachal Pradesh state unit chief replacing Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
“Congress president Rahul Gandhi has approved Kuldeep Singh Rathore as president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect. The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who will be stepping down from his responsibility as PCC president”, said a release issued by the party general secretary Ashok Gehlot.
Sources said that Mr Sukhu has been replaced by Mr Rathore because of the differences between him and six time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
They also said that Mr Singh has been demanding the removal of Mr Sukhu before the Lok Sabha polls.
Mr Rathore is a confidant of the former Union Minister Anand Sharma, sources said. (UNI)
