Shimla, Dec 7 : Light snowfall on high reaches in Himachal Pradesh has brought down mercury six to seven Degrees below normal even as Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded lowest at -10 degrees Celsius.
The reports arriving here said that the state was witnessing bone chilling cold wave during the night and wee hours. Light western disturbances were active in the state that brought light snowfall and rain in isolated places during last 24 hrs.
However, on Friday, it was dry and sunny in the morning. High reaches of Lahaul Spiti, Kullu and Kinnaur also had moderate to light snowfall in last 24 hrs. Met Office said that Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded 3cm snowfall and the tourist resort, Manali, recorded 2.3mm rain pushing down the night temperature -3.8 Degrees and -2.2 Degrees respectively.
Keylong, Headquarters of Lahaul Spiti, was coldest of this season as night temperature recorded -10 Degrees and six degrees below the normal. Minimum temperature of Sundernagar in Mandi was 0.7 Degrees on Friday, Bhuntar in Kullu was 1.7 Degrees, Kufri in Shimla and Solan 2 Degrees each.
Chamba was low at 2.4 Degrees, Dalhousie at 3.4 Degrees, Bilaspur at 4.2 Degrees, Hamirpur at 4.3 Degrees, Shimla at 4.7 Degrees, Kangra at 4.8 Degrees, Mandi at 5.2 Degrees, Una at 5.2 Degrees, Nahan in Sirmaur at 6.2 Degrees and Poanta Sahib at 9 Degrees respectively.
The Met office forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hrs. (UNI)
