Shimla, Dec 4 : Two industrialists from Kala Amb area in Sirmaur district was arrested under GST Act, by the Tax department, officials said here.
The fraud involves paper transactions of around Rs 150 crore in which around Rs 15 crore Goods and Services Tax calculated, Joint Tax Commissioner Dr Sunil Kumar said on Monday late evening.
According to him, purchase of raw materials worth crores seen without proper documents in a probe. Summons were sent to three traders related to the malpractice in their Delhi address by registered posts, but letters came back undelivered with remarks that address was incomplete.
On verification, it was found that some other companies are functioning in these addresses. Later, owners of these three trading firms were tracked with the help of addresses given on their PAN.
In their professional identities, it was found that one man is a taxi driver with a monthly salary of Rs 13000. The second accused is a worker in a milk dairy drawing a salary of 4000 and the third one found to be a factory worker.
Sales of around Rs 60 crore have been shown from these three firms in their names within two months.
These persons filed affidavits and stated that they do not know anything about the said firms & sold nothing to anyone.
Also, details of the vehicles transported goods from Delhi to Kala Amb were found to be cars, bikes etc.
Many transporters and Goods Receipts (GRs) issued by them were also found to be fake.
The arrested persons will be produced in court on Tuesday. Half dozen more industrialists from the state who received so called goods from this Kala Amb based company are likely to be arrested in the case shortly, Inspector Rupinder Singh said. (UNI)
