Five child labour rescued in Shimla: DC

Shimla, Dec 3: Shimla Deputy Commissioner(DC) Amit Kashyap on Monday informed that the district Labour Department rescued five child labour from this capital town in the month of November.

Mr Kashayp confirmed that as many as 125 searches or raid were conducted in different places in the district last month and department succeed to free five children who have make-shifted in rehabilitation centers.

DC also informed that under the Child Labaour prohibition Act 15 cases are under trial in courts.

DC directed the department and presumption department to act swiftly against culprits and perpetrators for providing child labour in violation of law and ensure strong action against them

He said that vigil and probe in such matter should be expedite and concerned officer and employees should trained and aware to ensure the compliance of law. Mr Kashyap said that workshop and training program should be conducted so that people would be aware about the law.

He stressed the need that without awareness the menace of child labour could not be eradicated. The department should also disburse the publicity literature so that people could be made aware of the rules of law. (UNI)
