The total number of coronavirus cases reported in India over the past 24 hours, has shown a downward trend. According to the latest data released by the Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 4,789. While 4,312 cases are active, 124 deaths have been reported.

According to Lav Agarwal, Joint Health Secretary, 354 cases were reported in the past 24 hours. On Monday, this number was 693- the highest in a day.

“The strategies adopted by the government to contain coronavirus are yielding good results in many parts of the country, including Agra and Gautam Buddh Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Bhilwara (Rajasthan) and East Delhi,” Agarwal said.

According to the Health Ministry data, Maharashtra continues to lead with a tally of 868, followed by Tamil Nadu - 621, Delhi - 576, Telangana - 364, Kerala - 327, Uttar Pradesh - 305, Rajasthan - 288 besides others.

New Delhi has decided to export hydroxychloroquine to neighbouring countries as well as those severely affected by novel coronavirus. The decision was made after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and US President Donald Trump had a telephonic conversation during which the latter asked India to lift the ban on export to the US.
