The state government has recently launched an app named ‘Jeevan Shakti’ that will provide information regarding the availability of blood in government blood banks across Bengal. The citizen-centric app has been developed by the State Health and Family Welfare Department.
The mobile app will prove extremely handy for patients and their relatives, who will be able to trace donors and find out the availability of blood at the government-run blood banks. The main features of the app are a list of donors in the State, along with their names, mobile numbers, addresses and the blood groups they belong to. Interested persons can enroll themselves in the app as potential donors.
Every few seconds, someone, somewhere, needs blood. Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year. Every year, on June 14, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. (UNI)
