Chandigarh, Feb 12 : Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday said that the BJP government is working on the mantra of 'Look Busy- Do Nothing' as it continues to be in the speech mode, refusing to come into the work mode, months after the election process ended.
He said the government is 'citing its speeches as its achievements'. Addressing media persons at his residence here, Hooda declared that farmers were facing an existential crisis as their crops have been damaged by hailstorms a few days ago but the damage has not been assessed and they have not yet been given compensation for crop losses.
He said that rather than providing relief, the government is continuously raising input prices and is collecting lakhs from the farms in the name of tube-well connections. He said that farmers had to pay Rs 10,000 for a tubewell connection under Congress rule but now have to pay Rs 2 lakh. He alleged that a probe by ACS has indicated a scam of at least Rs 90 crore in the procurement of paddy while RTI enquiries indicated the magnitude of the scam to be much higher (UNI)
