Chandigarh, Aug 19 : Mustakin and his eight family members in Gadhpur Tapu village of Karnal district had a narrow escape from floods, following Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s intervention. They were airlifted with the help of a helicopter.
Mustakin along with his family members had gone to fields on the other side of the river Yamuna on Sunday night when they got stranded due to increasing water level in the river.
When the matter came into the notice of Khattar, he directed Karnal Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh to take immediate necessary action. Air Force Station Sarsava, Saharanpur, was contacted with the help of Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, Joint Secretary, Disaster Management Division, Ministry of Home Affairs and they were evacuated safely.
The rescue operation which continued till late in the night was carried out by the district administration. (UNI)
